My role... I didn’t really see it as my role and her role, it was really us going through cancer and I think it was really important for her, and for me…. I couldn’t get it across enough that this is both of us that have this and were both going to go through it completely together. So I think…she had to do the hard part, she had to go through chemotherapy, she had to go through all the social stigmas associated with being diagnosed with cancer, especially at a young age.

My role was more making that situation…making the best of a bad situation, trying to help her think positively, not borrow trouble, and just take each day as it comes and try to adjust to all the developments. And for everybody who is diagnosed with cancer there is going to be a lot of surprises all the way through. So keeping a level head and never taking any news as, oh, this means something huge. Although every piece of news does mean something very significant, to try and put a little bit of perspective and say, hey, I was diagnosed with cancer just months ago, so what piece of news can come out that’s actually bigger than that.
