My experience with emergency IVF

In our process we went through a harvesting. We harvested 18 eggs, “wow, phenomenal, exciting—18 eggs!” We can have a litter with the way we’re working. It doesn’t work that way. Don’t get excited. Of that, we fertilized 12, if I’m not mistaken. At the end of the day, after all the testing, and all the completion, we have 1 good egg, one good embryo, and one that’s conditional, probably not salvageable. After that, that’s all we have.

You know, these are the challenges that we face as people who are challenged by infertility. And of course, it’s a kind of a cruelness that there are people out there that don’t have these problems, that don’t go through cancer, that have more children than they need, but that’s just the way it is.
