My advice for somebody diagnosed with cancer is just to ask questions—ask as many questions as you can. Don’t be intimidated by the doctor, don’t be afraid that you’re going to look stupid or that you’re asking something dumb. They’re there to help you and they want to help you, and you deserve to know as much as you can to make informed decisions. It can be really intimidating between the physicians and the insurance and the emotional stuff, and everything’s all going on at the same time, and I think you just have to take your time to get through it. I would say put your whole focus on that, but really you can’t not do that when you’re in that situation, you know, it’s top priority. Just ask lots of questions, and talk to lots of different people to help you to come to terms with what you’re thinking and to help you think of things that you might not have otherwise thought about.
